"The Majespecters are Pendulum wind spirits that cannot be targeted or destroyed by the opponent's card effects. This innate, unconditional protection makes them among the most frustrating monsters to remove, and their Summon effects search a complete toolkit of Spells and Traps that protect and disrupt with breezy efficiency."

The Majespecters are yokai riding the wind, each with a Spell or Trap that shows it at work. Their unicorn, Kirin, then leads the trail into the story of the Dracoslayers. Follow a marked name to walk the trail.

Majespecter Crow - Yata
I · Yata
1 / 14
  1. Yatagarasu, the three-legged crow of Japanese folklore. It appears in Tempest.

  2. The nekomata, a cat yokai. It appears in Storm.

  3. The kyūbi no kitsune, a nine-tailed fox yokai. It appears in Cyclone.

  4. Bunbuku Chagama, the tanuki of the folk tale who uses its shapeshifting to repay the man who rescued it. It appears in Tornado.

  5. The Ōgama, a giant toad yokai. It appears in Sonics.

  6. Two monsters in one: Orthrus, the two-headed dog of Greek myth with a snake for a tail, and the nue, a chimera yokai with a monkey's head, a tiger's limbs, a tanuki's body and a snake for a tail.

  7. The tornadoes of Nekomata, Yata, Kyubi, Bunbuku, Ogama and Kirin in one storm.

  8. The kirin of East Asian myth, with a dragon's head and body and a unicorn's hooves and horn. It leads the trail on: it appears in Majesty's Pegasus, Majester Paladin, Gust and Draco - Ryu.

  9. Kirin turning into the steed of Majester Paladin, with Nekomata, Yata, Kyubi and Bunbuku below: the first hint that the Majespecters and the Dracoslayers are linked. Like the other Field Spells of the Dracoslayer story, such as Dragonic Diagram, it shows a Dracoslayer.

  10. Luster Pendulum and Kirin combined, with Luster Pendulum's Type and ATK and Kirin's Attribute and DEF. It was the first Xyz Monster to list a Pendulum Monster as material.

  11. Kirin and Amorphage Sloth, from the Amorphage, another archetype of the Dracoslayer story.

  12. Named after Majesty's Pegasus. The crest on its chest and sword matches the crown of Mariamne, and its True Draco form is Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster.

  13. Majesty Pegasus and Kirin, evolved into one. Ryu rides again with Majesty Pegasus in Wind.

  14. Kirin, retrained as a Dracoslayer. It is built around Kirin's history: Forbidden from 2017 to 2024, because other Pendulum Decks used it to remove monsters while it was hard to remove itself.

Archetype Fundamentals

The Majespecter archetype is a unique and resilient force among Pendulum strategies. Comprised of WIND Spellcaster monsters, they distinguish themselves not through powerful Pendulum Zone effects, but through on-summon monster abilities and a formidable defensive core. Their core identity is built on inherent resilience, as nearly every monster cannot be targeted or destroyed by opponent's card effects. This forces opponents into unconventional removal methods and allows Majespecters to maintain a steady board presence to fuel their control-oriented game plan.

The Majestic Arsenal

The Searchers

  • Bunbuku (Raccoon): Premier starter. Searches any "Majespecter" monster.
  • Kyubi (Fox): Trap searcher. Accesses Tempest for negation.
  • Yata (Crow): Spell searcher. Grabs extenders like Wind.
  • Nekomata (Cat): Delayed, but versatile search for any archetype card.

The Disruptors & Extenders

  • Kirin (Unicorn): Legendary boss. Non-destruction bounce effect.
  • Yamarashi (Porcupine): Key extender. Special Summons itself from hand.
  • Nue (Orthrus): Link-2 lynchpin. Sets up scales and loads the Extra Deck.
  • Draco - Ryu: Rank 4 catalyst. Summons from Deck when a monster is tributed.

Competitive Analysis

Strengths

  • Inherent protection from targeting and destruction effects.
  • Highly recursive engine generates significant card advantage.
  • Strong against decks reliant on standard targeting/destruction removal.

Weaknesses

  • Vulnerable to non-targeting removal like Evenly Matched & Kaijus.
  • Low monster ATK makes it difficult to close out games quickly.
  • Clear choke points (e.g., Nue's summon) are weak to hand traps.
  • Disabled by anti-tribute or type-changing floodgates.

Counter-Strategy

  • Use Ash Blossom on Nue's effect.
  • Destroy Pendulum Scales with backrow removal like Cosmic Cyclone.
  • Utilize Side Deck cards like Mask of Restrict, Droll & Lock Bird, or Evenly Matched.
